Nothing Gold Can Stay
At his recent exhibition at the London Miles Gallery, New York’s Scott Belcastro wowed viewers with his humbling powers of animism. The paintings on show seemed to capture moments of innocence and the associated vulnerability to a change that is about to happen. Belcastro’s explosive colours display his frustration and confusion in dealing with his own unsettled spirit. What appear to be harmless paintings of landscapes in the first glance depict the feeling of uncertainty about the transformation that occurs around us. Belcastro says “Change is inevitable; watching it take place is gold.”
